First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerians to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect across religious and ethnic divides as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr. In her message, she emphasized that national cohesion is vital to Nigeria’s progress, and the spiritual benefits of Ramadan should renew citizens’ optimism and strengthen national unity.
The First Lady encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to support vulnerable groups and extend kindness to the less privileged. She prayed that Almighty Allah accepts their fasts, supplications, and acts of charity, and grants them the grace to continue in the virtues cultivated throughout the holy month .
President Bola Tinubu also sent a message to Nigerian Muslims, urging them to sustain the lessons of Ramadan, particularly the values of piety, empathy, selflessness, and compassion. He emphasized that these virtues are critical to building a stronger and more united nation.
The President called on Muslim leaders to pray for peace and prosperity across Nigeria, noting that collective spiritual commitment can strengthen the nation’s resilience. He also urged Muslims to extend generosity to people of other faiths, reinforcing national unity.
In her message, the First Lady highlighted the coincidence of Lent and Ramadan, symbolizing love and unity. She emphasized that when people are united, God commands His blessings.
The First Lady’s message was echoed by various state governors, who called for unity, peace, and tolerance among Nigerians. They urged citizens to work collectively towards national development and pray for peace and stability in the country.
The Inspector General of Police also extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslims, ordering nationwide security deployment to ensure a peaceful celebration.
