The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention is kicking off today in Abuja, with President Bola Tinubu, 32 state governors, and over 8,453 delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory in attendance. This major event is expected to shape the party’s future direction and leadership .
The convention, themed “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” aims to bring together delegates for policy engagement, leadership elections, and a transition to a new set of party executives. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized that the gathering will provide a platform for reflection, consolidation, and planning, highlighting the party’s commitment to democratic values and national development.
Delegates from all 36 states and the FCT are expected to participate in the convention, which will elect new party leaders and deliberate on key policies. The event has attracted top government officials, including Festus Keyamo, Hannatu Musawa, and presidential aides.
The APC has put in place necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible convention. Chairman of the Central Coordinating Committee, Aminu Masari, expressed confidence in the preparations, stating that all committees have finalized their assignments.
Security measures have been intensified around the convention venue, Eagle Square, with civil servants in affected areas directed to work remotely. Hotels in Abuja have recorded high patronage, with major facilities fully booked.
The convention is a significant milestone for the APC, reflecting its progress under President Tinubu’s leadership and reinforcing the Renewed Hope Agenda. The party’s zoning structure, based on the federal character principle, ensures fairness and inclusiveness in party administration.
