The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has accused Fuji musician KWAM 1 of spilling alcohol on aviation workers during a boarding process at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The incident occurred on August 5, 2025, when KWAM 1 attempted to board ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos with a flask of liquid despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security personnel and the Flight Captain.
KWAM 1 was informed of the regulation prohibiting liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage unless medically necessary and properly declared. However, he allegedly declined to comply and spilled the contents of the flask on an airline security officer, which turned out to be alcohol. The situation escalated when the Flight Captain intervened and faced resistance from the musician. KWAM 1 reportedly moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to leave despite repeated requests, causing further disruption.
He was eventually escorted off the plane by the AVSEC crime unit for investigation and later released. FAAN emphasized that the matter remains under thorough investigation, stressing its zero tolerance for behavior that threatens aviation safety or undermines operational integrity. FAAN has reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and regulatory compliance across all Nigerian airports.
The authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved. KWAM 1 may face punitive measures, including being put on a “no-fly list”, due to his unruly conduct. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has also taken action, suspending two ValueJet pilots over the incident.
FAAN has assured the public that anyone found guilty will be held accountable under the law. The authority’s unwavering commitment to safety and security is evident in its swift response to the incident. As the investigation continues, FAAN will work to ensure that all parties involved are held accountable for their actions.
