Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed the blacklisting of legendary Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, from air travel within and outside Nigeria. This decision follows a recent altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where K1 De Ultimate allegedly blocked a ValueJet aircraft from taxiing on the runway.
The incident occurred on August 5, 2025, involving K1 De Ultimate and the crew of ValueJet. According to eyewitnesses, the musician’s behavior was described as thuggish, entitled, and outrightly dangerous. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) reported that K1 De Ultimate attempted to carry an unidentified liquid, later confirmed to be alcohol, onboard in a flask, violating international aviation rules.
Keyamo described K1’s conduct on the airport tarmac as “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE” and likened it to a “hostage situation”. He emphasized that both parties breached safety protocols outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). While commending the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for suspending the pilot’s license pending investigation, Keyamo insisted on equal accountability.
As a result, Keyamo directed the NCAA to place K1 De Ultimate on a no-fly list pending further investigation. Airlines that flout this directive risk withdrawal of their operating licenses. The NCAA has imposed a six-month no-fly sanction on K1 De Ultimate, citing his actions as a breach of established aviation safety protocols.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and NCAA are conducting a joint investigation into the matter. FAAN has reiterated its commitment to maintaining operational integrity and aviation safety at all times. The authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved.
