President Bola Tinubu has departed Yokohama, Japan, for Brazil, where he’ll begin a state visit on August 24. Before arriving in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, he’ll make a stopover in Los Angeles. This marks the next leg of his two-nation tour, which started on August 15 when he left Abuja, Nigeria, with a brief stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before arriving in Yokohama on August 18.
During his stay in Japan, Tinubu attended the opening ceremony and plenary of the ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD9) on August 20. The conference focused on Africa’s economic transformation, emphasizing private investment and innovation as tools for sustainable growth. Tinubu also held bilateral meetings with Japanese officials, where he likely discussed ways to strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and Japan.
In addition to his official engagements, Tinubu interacted with Nigerians residing in Japan, listening to their concerns and providing updates on the government’s initiatives to support the Nigerian diaspora. This engagement reflects his administration’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with Nigerians abroad.
