The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a significant decision regarding its 2027 presidential ticket. According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of Nigeria. This decision was reached during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
The PDP’s NEC resolved that the presidential ticket for the 2027 general election is hereby zoned to the South. This decision is based on the party’s zoning arrangement, which aims to foster unity and fairness within the party. Since the position of National Chairman is currently held by the North, the presidential ticket is now zoned to the South.
The party has retained the existing National Working Committee (NWC) zoning formula, allowing both the North and South to retain their current positions. This decision opens up opportunities for PDP members from the southern region to contest for the party’s presidential ticket in the 2027 general election.
The zoning arrangement is expected to promote unity and fairness within the party, ensuring that different regions have a chance to hold key positions. The PDP’s elective national convention is scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, where other key positions will be contested.
