Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun is leading a distinguished Nigerian delegation to the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China. The forum, which runs from September 16 to 18, 2025, brings together ministers of security, police chiefs, law enforcement leaders, and security experts from across the globe to deliberate on collective strategies to confront transnational crime, strengthen partnerships, and advance global public safety.
Egbetokun’s participation in this high-profile international gathering comes at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China. Ahead of the forum, he held a bilateral meeting with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. Qi Yanjun, on September 15, 2025. Discussions focused on enhancing security cooperation, intelligence sharing, capacity building, and strengthening law enforcement ties between Nigeria and China.
As part of the programme, Egbetokun will deliver a keynote address titled “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures” on September 18, 2025. His presentation will spotlight Nigeria’s ongoing counter-crime initiatives, innovative policing reforms, and collaborative efforts with international partners in disrupting cross-border criminal networks and safeguarding communities.
The IGP’s attendance at this global platform underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to international security collaboration, intelligence-driven policing, and proactive responses to emerging security threats. It equally reaffirms Nigeria’s position as a responsible global partner in shaping the future of public security and law enforcement.
By engaging at the international level, Nigeria seeks not only to boost its own capacity but also to contribute to global safety and stability. The country continues to grapple with challenges including terrorism, cybercrime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.
