Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that the recent political crisis in the state has left hard lessons, but nothing irretrievably lost. In a statewide broadcast, Fubara announced the end of a challenging six-month state of emergency imposed by President Bola Tinubu, which was declared on March 18, 2025, in response to a severe political crisis.
The governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his decisive interventions in resolving the crisis and restoring full democratic governance to Rivers State. Fubara also thanked the resilient people of Rivers State for their patience, courage, and peaceful conduct during the emergency rule.
According to Fubara, the political crisis is now behind them, and peace and stability have returned to Rivers State, although not without hard lessons learned from the emergency period. He emphasized the importance of moving forward, reconciliation, and development, urging leaders and stakeholders to put aside differences and work together for the common good.
Fubara revealed that a peace process brokered by President Tinubu had been successfully concluded, with all major parties agreeing to reconcile. He called on citizens to see this moment as a fresh beginning and work together towards building a stronger, more peaceful, and prosperous Rivers State.
The governor pledged to work harmoniously with the Rivers State House of Assembly to recover lost ground and accelerate social and economic progress. He also renewed his commitment to serve with humility, a sense of duty, and the fear of God, promising to carry all stakeholders along in the state’s development journey.
