Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani believes President Bola Tinubu has a crucial role to play in shaping Nigeria’s future. According to Sani, if Tinubu fails to deliver on his promises, it will be challenging for any future president to succeed.
Sani emphasized that Tinubu has a “historic opportunity” to reset Nigeria and put it on the path to greatness, citing examples of countries like Singapore and China that made bold decisions to drive progress.
Sani urged Tinubu to prioritize competence over political loyalty when making appointments, referencing the standards he set as Lagos State governor. “The standard he set in Lagos, where he brought the best people to lead, must now be applied nationwide,” Sani said.
He lamented Nigeria’s toxic politics, where those in government and opposition view each other as enemies rather than partners in progress. Sani stressed that Nigeria’s future depends on the decisions made today, warning that if the country doesn’t take bold steps towards reform, it may still be struggling with the same issues 25 years from now.
“No country dropped from heaven. China, Singapore, Indonesia — they all paid the price for progress,” he noted, emphasizing the need for visionary leadership to steer Nigeria towards growth and development. Sani’s comments underscore the high stakes for Tinubu’s administration and the expectations of Nigerians for tangible results. As the country navigates its complex challenges, Sani’s words serve as a reminder of the importance of effective leadership and strategic decision-making in shaping Nigeria’s future.
