Chidinma Ojukwu, a former University of Lagos student, testified in court that she never discussed the death of Super TV CEO Michael Usifo Ataga with her co-defendant Adedapo Quadri. According to Ojukwu, her interactions with Quadri were limited to buying “Loud,” a type of cannabis, and Rohypnol, as well as getting help to produce her school ID card. Ojukwu made this statement during cross-examination by Quadri’s lawyer, Babatunde Busari, at the Lagos State High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square.
Ojukwu insisted that Quadri was unaware of her activities with Ataga at the short-let apartment in Lekki where the incident occurred. She described her relationship with Quadri as strictly transactional, with Quadri supplying her with substances and helping with her school ID card. Ojukwu emphasized that Quadri never visited her at the apartment and knew nothing about what happened between her and Ataga.
The case involves Ojukwu, Quadri, and a third defendant, Chioma Egbuchu, who is accused of stealing Ataga’s iPhone 7. All three defendants were arraigned on October 12, 2021, and Ojukwu and Quadri face eight counts bordering on conspiracy, murder, and stabbing. Ojukwu admitted taking a brown envelope containing personal documents belonging to Ataga and another individual, Mary Johnson, when she left the apartment. She claimed she took it by mistake and later informed the police.
Ojukwu’s testimony is part of the ongoing trial, where the defendants are facing charges related to Ataga’s death. The court is expected to continue hearing the case, with Ojukwu’s testimony being a crucial part of the proceedings.
