Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has extended an invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers to attend the inauguration of constituency projects in Kogi State. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 2, in Ihima, Okene Local Government Area, and marks her second anniversary as a serving senator. The invitation was read by Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary, and he responded warmly, saying “Congratulations in advance.”
This gesture is seen as a sign of reconciliation between the two senators, who had a bitter falling out earlier in the year. Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months in March after a heated exchange with Akpabio over seat allocation in the Senate chamber. However, it appears that the two lawmakers have put their differences aside, with Akpabio’s warm response to the invitation suggesting a renewed sense of camaraderie.
Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the invitation was a customary and procedural gesture, aiming to notify the Senate of the event through the presiding officer. The senator expressed gratitude for overcoming challenges, including her suspension, and highlighted her determination to deliver dividends of democracy despite setbacks. The event will feature the commissioning of several completed projects, which is expected to bring joy and relief to the beneficiaries.
The senator has also organized a mega empowerment program for over 2,000 beneficiaries, which will include electric vehicles, deep freezers, gas cookers, and other life-transforming equipment.
