Trump’s going to be front‑row at the FIFA World Cup final draw on Friday – the White House confirmed he’ll be at the Kennedy Center in Washington later this week.
He’s billing the event as a centerpiece of his second presidency and a nod to the 250‑year anniversary of U.S. independence, and the U.S. will be co‑hosting the 2026 tournament with Canada and Mexico.
Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing: Trump has hinted he might shift some games out of Democratic‑run host cities, citing concerns over crime and illegal migration.
FIFA insiders were reportedly caught off guard by the president’s involvement, with Gianni Infantino’s quiet plan to bring Trump into the ceremony sparking surprise and a bit of internal chatter.
