Ghana has been drawn into Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. This group promises to be highly competitive, with only the top two teams automatically qualifying for the knockout stage, and four of the best third-placed teams also advancing.
The 2026 World Cup will be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, featuring an expanded 48-team format. This new format introduces new dynamics, raising the stakes for all sides in Group L .
England, ranked fourth in the world, will be looking to avenge their 2018 World Cup semi-final loss to Croatia. Ghana, on the other hand, will be seeking to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010.
Scotland, who are in Group C with Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti, will be hoping to have a better World Cup run than their last appearance in 1998. The Scotland manager, Steve Clarke, expressed excitement about facing Brazil, saying, “It’s great to play Brazil. We’re hopefully going to bring some magic as well”.
The 2026 World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026, with matches scheduled across 16 host cities in North America. The final will be held at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on July 19, 2026.
Ghana’s preparation plans, including international friendlies and training camps, are expected to be announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the coming weeks. With a talented squad, including players like Mohammed Kudus and Jordan Ayew, Ghana will be looking to make a strong impression in their World Cup debut.
