The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended the deadline for migrating from the Fast Track Scheme to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme to January 31, 2026. This move aims to support smoother trade facilitation and compliance with global standards. The extension gives operators more time to meet AEO requirements without disrupting their business operations .
The AEO Programme is a globally recognised compliance-based initiative that grants trusted operators enhanced benefits, such as expedited cargo release, reduced documentation, lower inspection levels, pre-arrival processing, and greater predictability in cross-border trade. To be eligible, companies must demonstrate a strong record of compliance, a commitment to supply chain security, and satisfactory financial viability.
Existing Fast Track beneficiaries who haven’t completed their transition are urged to apply immediately via the official platform at (link unavailable) The NCS will provide support through a dedicated helpdesk at aeo@customs.gov.ng. Only certified AEO companies will retain benefits like faster cargo release and reduced inspections.
The migration aligns with the World Customs Organisation’s (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards and Nigeria’s Customs Act 2023. The WCO SAFE Framework aims to secure and facilitate global trade by enhancing customs processes and promoting cooperation between customs administrations .
To aid the transition, the NCS will host a Stakeholders Engagement Forum on December 18, 2025, at Lagos Continental Hotel. The forum will provide hands-on guidance, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions to address migration and compliance concerns.
By extending the deadline, the NCS reinforces its commitment to ensuring a seamless and inclusive transition process for all stakeholders. This proactive approach will enhance supply chain efficiency, revenue protection, and Nigeria’s trade competitiveness.
