Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara declared himself the “number 1” member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, saying his new affiliation will help secure a smooth ride for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Speaking after receiving his APC membership card, Fubara said the move was a “return favor” to Tinubu for backing his administration since he took office.
Fubara explained that aligning with the ruling party at the federal level is essential for Rivers’ development, arguing that the state stands to benefit from the federal resources and projects that come with being in the same political camp as the president. He urged his supporters to rally behind Tinubu and the APC, emphasizing that a united front would guarantee the president’s re‑election.
