Bola Oyebamiji

Bola Oyebamiji has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 Osun State election. He was unanimously affirmed as the party’s candidate during the primary election held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Imperial Hall, Osogbo, the state capital.
Oyebamiji, a seasoned politician and banker, is the immediate past Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). He has also served as Commissioner for Finance in Osun State during the administrations of former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola.
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Oyebamiji on his emergence, urging him to be magnanimous in victory and to reach out to all party leaders and former aspirants. The President also praised the Osun State APC for the unity and spirit of reconciliation that characterized the primary election.
Oyebamiji’s emergence is seen as a significant development in the state’s politics, with many believing he has the potential to lead Osun to greater heights. He has promised to prioritize poverty reduction, revive the health sector, and address the state’s infrastructural deficits
The APC primary election was attended by 1,660 delegates from the 30 local government areas and 332 wards in Osun State. Oyebamiji’s nomination was moved by Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare, demonstrating the party’s unity and support for his candidacy.
Oyebamiji’s acceptance speech emphasized his commitment to elevating the standard of living for Osun residents, alleviating poverty, and promoting education and healthcare. He urged party members and supporters to join him in repositioning the state for greater productivity and development.
