The Federal Government has dismissed 38 senior officers from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for various disciplinary offences, including gross misconduct, insubordination, and acts unbecoming of a superior officer. The dismissed officers include an Assistant Commandant General (ACG), and the decision was approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) under the Ministry of Interior.
The NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, stated that a total of 76 senior and junior personnel faced disciplinary measures for acts unbecoming of officers in 2025. The disciplinary actions were taken to serve as a deterrent to others and to uphold the values and operational ethics of the Corps.
According to Afolabi, 20 junior officers were also dismissed from service, while three personnel were demoted by one rank, and seven others issued warning letters. Additionally, two senior officers were demoted by two ranks, another officer was demoted by one rank, and five officers were issued warning letters.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Audi, expressed the administration’s commitment to revamping and repositioning the Corps through training and re-training of its operatives. He emphasized that acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Service would not be tolerated.
The Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee of the Corps considered 30 cases involving job racketeering, extortion, aiding and abetting illegal dealings in petroleum products, fraudulent practices, gun running, AWOL, and acts unbecoming of personnel. The Committee’s recommendations led to the dismissal of 20 personnel and other disciplinary measures.
The NSCDC leadership stressed that the disciplinary actions are part of ongoing reforms aimed at sanitizing the Corps and strengthening public confidence in its operations. The Corps urges officers to remain focused and professional in discharging their statutory responsibilities.
