Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian boxer, is stable and receiving medical attention after a fatal car crash in Ogun State, Nigeria. The accident, which occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claimed the lives of two of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
The crash involved a Lexus SUV, driven by Joshua’s security guard, which collided with a stationary truck. Reports indicate excessive speed and wrongful overtaking as possible causes of the accident. Joshua was seated in the rear of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the driver of the Lexus SUV has been detained for questioning. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and other officials have expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished Joshua a speedy recovery. The governments of Ogun and Lagos States are providing support and monitoring the situation
Joshua, who recently defeated Jake Paul in Miami, is being closely monitored by a medical team. His condition is stable, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
