The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed the party’s congress timetable and backed the ongoing e-registration exercise. The governors expressed their commitment to fostering party unity, transparency, and accountability at all levels of the APC .
The APC’s e-registration exercise, which began on December 1, 2025, aims to update and sanitize the party’s membership database. This digital revalidation will ensure accurate records for the upcoming congresses. Party leaders have emphasized the compulsory nature of this registration, urging all members to participate.
The congress timetable outlines the sequence of internal party activities leading to the election of officers at various levels. Ward congresses are scheduled for February 18, 2026, while local government congresses will take place on February 20, 2026. State congresses will be held on March 7, 2026, followed by zonal congresses on March 21, 2026.
The APC National Convention is set to take place from March 25 to March 28, 2026, in Abuja. This four-day event will elect national officers and address key party matters.
The PGF has welcomed newly inducted governors, including those who defected from opposition parties. The governors emphasized the importance of responsible leadership, effective communication, and collective discipline to bolster public trust in the party’s democratic processes.
Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Senatorial District, stated that the e-registration exercise is targeting at least 51% of registered voters in Ogun State. He urged party members to remain united and committed to strengthening the party for a resounding victory in the 2027 general elections.
The APC has recorded significant growth, including recent high-profile defections from opposition governors. The party’s leadership has dismissed claims that these defections signal the rise of a one-party state, emphasizing that the APC remains broad-based and open to all Nigerians.
The congresses are expected to renew party structures at the grassroots, fostering unity and preparing for upcoming off-cycle governorship polls.
