Access Bank has recorded 20,000 athletes’ registration ahead of the 11th Lagos City Marathon, scheduled to hold on February 15, 2026. The marathon is expected to attract over 100,000 runners, competing in the 42km full marathon and the 10km fun run .
The event, sponsored by Access Bank, has grown in popularity since its inception in 2016, becoming one of Africa’s most prestigious races. It has earned the World Athletics Gold Label, recognizing its quality and organization .
The marathon’s routes include the 42km course starting at National Stadium, Surulere, and finishing at Eko Atlantic, and the 10km fun run starting at Grace Garden Events Place, Lekki, and finishing at Eko Atlantic .
The total prize money for the event is $500,000, with the winner of the 42km marathon taking home $50,000. Nigerian athletes also have a chance to win up to ₦2 million .
Registration is free, and athletes can register online or at Access Bank branches nationwide. The event is open to all, except athletes registered under an athletics federation or body .
