The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced plans to deport 79 Nigerians listed on its ‘worst-of-the-worst’ criminal list. These individuals were convicted of various crimes, including fraud, drug peddling, assault, manslaughter, and robbery.
The DHS stated that these Nigerians were arrested as part of an intensified nationwide crackdown on criminal immigrants. The list includes names like Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, and Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, among others .
According to reports, the Trump administration has been aggressively cracking down on criminal and illegal immigrants across the US, with many Nigerians affected by the policy. Some Nigerians have reportedly gone into hiding, while others are quietly returning home amid the intensified deportation drive led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The DHS emphasized that its actions are part of fulfilling President Trump’s promise to carry out mass deportations, starting with the worst offenders. The agency’s statement highlighted the efforts of Secretary Noem and the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE.
