The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has launched its digital certificate service, WAEC DigiCert, in Nigeria and four other West African countries, including Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. This digital platform allows candidates to access, request, confirm, and securely share digital copies of their certificates with institutions worldwide.
The WAEC DigiCert service is a mobile and web-based application designed to provide stakeholders with seamless access to digital versions of original certificates. It offers simple features that enable users to access, request, confirm, or share digital forms of the original certificates. Candidates can also recover lost WAEC examination numbers through the platform.
According to Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Ghana, the system is reliable, and the authenticity of the certificates is guaranteed. The digital service is expected to reduce administrative bottlenecks associated with manual certificate issuance and collection.
The launch of WAEC DigiCert follows a successful pilot phase in Nigeria, which received positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions worldwide. The platform is available for download on the App Store and Play Store for iOS and Android devices, respectively.
WAEC has assured that the introduction of the digital certificate service will not affect the printing and issuance of physical certificates. Candidates can still obtain physical copies of their certificates.
The digital certificate service is part of WAEC’s efforts to modernize its operations and improve efficiency. The platform is expected to provide enormous benefits to stakeholders, including cost savings and guaranteed authenticity.
To access the WAEC DigiCert service, candidates can visit WAEC’s official website or download the mobile application. Further information is available on WAEC’s social media platforms.
The launch of WAEC DigiCert is expected to enhance the credibility and authenticity of WAEC certificates, making it easier for candidates to share their certificates with institutions worldwide.
