Joao Pedro scored a hat-trick as Chelsea came from behind to beat Aston Villa 4-1, boosting their top four hopes in the Premier League. The Brazilian striker scored his first Premier League hat-trick, taking his tally to 14 goals in the league this season.
Chelsea had a disastrous start, conceding a goal in just two minutes as Douglas Luiz flicked home from a Leon Bailey cross. However, they responded well, with Joao Pedro leveling the score in the 35th minute after Malo Gusto’s perfect cross.
The Brazilian striker was on fire, scoring his second goal just before half-time with a delicate chip over Emiliano Martinez. Cole Palmer doubled Chelsea’s lead 10 minutes into the second half, capitalizing on Martinez’s poor parry.
Joao Pedro completed his hat-trick in the 64th minute, tapping home Alejandro Garnacho’s cross. This win lifts Chelsea to fifth place, three points behind fourth-placed Villa.
Chelsea’s manager Liam Rosenior praised Joao Pedro’s performance, calling him a “warrior” and saying he’s “scary”. Rosenior also highlighted the team’s effort, saying they showed “astronomical” energy.
The win is a significant boost for Chelsea’s Champions League hopes, and they now have a good chance of qualifying for the top four. Villa, on the other hand, have won just one of their last six games and are in danger of slipping out of contention.
Joao Pedro’s hat-trick is his first in the Premier League, and he’s now scored 17 goals in all competitions this season. He’s been in top form, scoring nine goals in his last nine games.
