EFCC Chief: ‘Corruption Won’t Define Us, We Can Overcome It

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has urged Nigerians not to let corruption define them, saying “We are not defined by corruption, we cannot be defeated by it” in his Easter message. He expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome corruption, drawing inspiration from the Easter lesson of victory over trial, corruption, and death .

Olukoyede emphasized the importance of collective action against corruption, highlighting the EFCC’s efforts to tackle economic and financial crimes. He called on Nigerians to reflect on the significance of Easter, which symbolizes triumph over adversity, and apply its lessons to the nation’s fight against corruption.

The EFCC boss also appealed to Nigerians not to give up on the fight, calling for sustained public support as the commission continues its campaign against economic and financial crimes. He urged citizens to keep hope alive and stay aligned with the EFCC’s efforts, describing the anti-corruption drive as a long, unrelenting struggle that requires collective resolve.

Olukoyede reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to sustaining its anti-corruption drive, calling for collective action in addressing the menace. He stressed the need for swift justice delivery, citing the commission’s successes, including over 7,500 convictions and recovered assets worth over N566 billion and $411 million in the past two years.

The EFCC chairman has also emphasized the importance of collaboration and understanding in tackling economic and financial crimes. He noted that the commission is focused on moving the nation forward and urged stakeholders to join forces in driving the preventive framework of the anti-corruption fight .
