…School Celebrates Career Day with Diverse Professions

At the annual Career Day celebration held at Oke-Ira Junior Grammar School, students proudly dressed in different professions to showcase their future ambitions. The colourful event brought together pupils, teachers, and parents in an atmosphere filled with excitement and learning.
The event commenced with an opening prayer led by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Adebajo A.A., while the school principal, Mrs. Adamu C.M., delivered the welcome address, encouraging students to remain focused and hardworking in pursuit of their future careers.
Some students represented white-collar professions such as doctors, lawyers, bankers, teachers, and engineers. They spoke confidently about how their jobs help society through education, healthcare, and business services.
Others proudly showcased blue-collar careers including carpenters, mechanics, electricians, tailors, and farmers. One of the teachers also engaged the students in practical vocational training, teaching them skills such as bleach making, Zara cap production, and other entrepreneurial activities. Some students also came out to showcase their creativity by designing bow ties made from fabric, which were used as decorative designs for Zara caps.
One of the highlights of the event was the creativity displayed by JSS 1 student, Ojedele Idowu, who designed and sewed a beautiful outfit for Mrs. Atoyebi, the model for the day. The outfit attracted admiration from guests and added glamour to the occasion. In another display of skill, a female student demonstrated how to tie a beautiful gele for the model as well, adding elegance and style to her overall appearance.
The students also performed a short drama presentation aimed at educating their peers on the importance of taking their studies seriously, avoiding teenage pregnancy, and staying away from bad behaviour and arrogance. The drama delivered important moral lessons and received applause from the audience.
The Career Day ended with music performances that entertained the audience, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by the Head Boy, who appreciated the teachers, parents, and guests for their support in making the event a success.
