Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reduced the price of aviation fuel (Jet A1) from N1,750 to N1,650 per litre as part of efforts to ease cost pressures on airlines and guarantee uninterrupted fuel supply nationwide.
The move also includes a 30-day interest-free credit facility secured by bank guarantees for marketers and airline operators, alongside a transition from a dollar-based pricing structure to a naira-denominated model.
The measures come amid mounting concerns over rising operational costs in the aviation sector, with Jet A1 accounting for a substantial share of airline expenses. Industry stakeholders have consistently warned that soaring aviation fuel prices were putting significant financial pressure on domestic carriers and threatening the sustainability of flight operations.
The refinery’s intervention is expected to offer relief to airline operators by reducing fuel procurement costs, improving operational efficiency, and supporting efforts to stabilise airfares.
