The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, undertook a working visit to Zamfara State, where he joined officers, families, and members of the public at the Salat al-Janazah held in honour of three police officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. During the visit, the IGP also met with officers and personnel of the Zamfara State Police Command, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating banditry and other violent crimes across the state.
The Inspector-General was received by senior government officials and key security stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Mallam Abubakar M. Nakwada, who represented the Governor of Zamfara State at the funeral prayers and related engagements.
Addressing officers and men of the Command, IGP Disu described the deceased officers as gallant personnel whose courage and dedication exemplified the highest ideals of service to the nation. He conveyed the condolences of the Force Management Team and the entire Nigeria Police Force to the bereaved families, assuring them that the sacrifices of the fallen officers would be forever honoured and remembered.
While acknowledging the profound loss, the Inspector-General emphasized that the tragedy would further strengthen the resolve of the Nigeria Police Force to sustain ongoing operations against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes. He urged officers to remain steadfast, resilient, and professional, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to undermine efforts to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State.
The IGP commended the Command for its recent operational achievements, including the arrest of criminal suspects, recovery of explosives and other dangerous items, retrieval of stolen motorcycles, rescue of kidnapped victims, and successful operations against armed bandits. He noted that these accomplishments underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, operational commitment, and inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges.
He further assured officers of the Force’s continued commitment to improving operational capacity, logistics, welfare, and other critical resources required for effective policing. The Inspector-General also reiterated the importance of intelligence-driven operations, community engagement, and collaboration with other security agencies in the ongoing fight against criminality.
IGP Disu charged officers and men of the Command to remain disciplined, dedicated, and focused on their constitutional responsibilities, noting that the most fitting tribute to the fallen officers would be the continued pursuit of peace, justice, and security for the people of Zamfara State.
The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to supporting its personnel and strengthening efforts to protect lives and property, combat violent crime, and enhance public safety across the country.
