Zenith Bank Plc has officially opened a new branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State—marking the first commercial bank to establish a physical presence in the community. The expansion underscores the Bank’s dedication to financial inclusion, delivering world-class banking services closer to local businesses and residents.
The commissioning ceremony took place on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, and drew a high-profile audience, including Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, traditional rulers, business leaders, customers, and other key stakeholders.
Governor Oborevwori hailed the new branch as a resounding vote of confidence in the state’s economic trajectory. “It demonstrates that our investments in infrastructure, economic development, and ease of doing business are yielding tangible results,” he stated. “When a leading institution like Zenith Bank expands here, it sends a powerful signal that Delta State is open for business and primed for greater investment.” He further emphasized the branch’s unique significance, noting that it stands as the only bank in the entire Okpe Local Government, promising to deliver a transformative economic impact on the locality.
Speaking at the event, Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his steadfast support of private sector growth. She specifically acknowledged his donation of the land on which the branch is built, calling it a testament to his administration’s enabling environment for businesses.
