Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected members of the Aye Confraternity during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted as part of an intelligence-led patrol along the Ago/Festac Bridge axis of Lagos State, the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) reports.
During the operation, officers intercepted a Toyota Camry XLE carrying two suspects identified as Emmanuel John (male, 24) and David Godwin (male, 28). A search of the vehicle and occupants led to the recovery of substances suspected to be hard drugs. Both suspects reportedly admitted during preliminary interrogation that they are members of the Aye Confraternity.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects: Samuel Owubokiri (male, 25), Adetona Seyi (male, 20), and David Chigozie (male, 25). Items recovered from the suspects include a military camouflage uniform, two machetes, one battle axe, one knife, approximately 500 SIM cards, five mobile phones, five laptops, charms, and additional substances suspected to be hard drugs. The suspects also allegedly confessed to belonging to the same cult group.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying the fight against cultism and other violent crimes across the state. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to support effective policing and enhanced public safety.
