LSSTF Donates Bulletproof Vests, Ballistic Helmets and Raincoats to NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command
In Lagos one of Africa’s largest economic centres security is regarded not only as a law enforcement function but also as a critical driver of economic growth, investor confidence, social stability and human development. In recognition of this, the Lagos State Government has, over the years, deliberately developed a strong security support framework to ensure that security agencies are adequately equipped to both respond to threats and protect personnel who serve on the frontlines.
Under the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) continues to strengthen this partnership by providing operational logistics, equipment and welfare support to agencies responsible for safeguarding Nigeria’s commercial hub. Through the provision of patrol vehicles, communication systems, specialized operational tools and protective gear, the Fund has remained central to enhancing the capacity of law enforcement institutions, reinforcing Lagos’ position as one of the most secure and investment-friendly states in the country.
The recent donation of bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and raincoats to the Lagos State Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) further reflects the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to a proactive, collaborative and well-resourced security architecture capable of addressing evolving security challenges.
During a visit to the NDLEA Lagos State Strategic Command, the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to the safety, welfare and operational effectiveness of officers engaged in combating drug trafficking and abuse across the state. He addressed the Assistant Commander General of Narcotics, ACGN Wali Liman Abubakar, and officers of the Command.
Dr. Ogunsan commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for providing sustained leadership and political support for security investments in the state. He also described Lagos as the safest state in Nigeria and praised the NDLEA Lagos Command for its performance and commitment, noting its strong contribution to the wider security ecosystem.
Explaining the purpose of the donation, he stated that the equipment was intended to enhance officer protection and operational efficiency during routine patrols and field operations. He urged the Command to make effective use of the items, while reaffirming LSSTF’s readiness for continued collaboration and support.
He further issued a warning to criminal elements, stressing that Lagos State remains vigilant and uncompromising on security, with ongoing monitoring across land, sea and air.
In response, ACGN Abubakar Liman Wali expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and LSSTF for the intervention, noting that the donated equipment would significantly improve the safety and welfare of officers, particularly during the rainy season. He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening enforcement efforts and public enlightenment in the fight against illicit drugs.
The visit and donation highlight a broader security strategy that emphasizes both personnel welfare and operational readiness. By sustaining investments in protective equipment and institutional partnerships, the Lagos State Government continues to demonstrate that effective security is built on preparedness, collaboration and consistent support for frontline agencies.
