The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another operational success in its ongoing efforts to combat violent crime, following the rescue of an abducted woman and her two-year-old son from a forest hideout in Kwara State, the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) reports.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), in collaboration with local security support groups, carried out a tactical operation on Saturday, 4th July 2026, in a forest located in Bode Sadu, Kwara State, where the victims were believed to be held.
Upon arrival, the suspected kidnappers engaged the operatives in a gunfire exchange in an attempt to thwart the rescue mission. However, they were quickly overpowered by the superior tactical response of the operatives and fled deeper into the forest. The team subsequently conducted a thorough search of the area and successfully rescued the victims, identified as 43-year-old Adijat Kuburat and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from the hideout.
The rescued victims have since been taken to a medical facility, where they are receiving appropriate treatment and care. Meanwhile, efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network behind the abduction.
The Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-led and collaborative policing strategies aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes, and ensuring that all criminal elements are brought to justice.
