…Unauthorised goods on Dangote trucks to face confiscation as company strengthens logistics monitoring
Dangote Industries Limited has intensified its fight against illegal haulage activities involving its trucks with the introduction of a whistleblowing initiative that offers a N500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders or recovery of unauthorized goods.
The company said the initiative is part of its broader commitment to safeguarding its logistics operations, protecting its brand reputation and preventing the misuse of Dangote-branded vehicles by individuals engaging in illegal transportation activities.
In a statement released in Lagos, the management encouraged members of the public to report suspected cases of illegal haulage involving Dangote trucks, stressing that its vehicles are only permitted to transport specific products approved for each subsidiary.
According to the company, trucks belonging to Dangote Cement Plc are authorised to transport only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery vehicles are restricted to carrying sugar products.
Similarly, trucks operated by NASCON Allied Industries are designated for the transportation of Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging vehicles are assigned to haul bags and packaging materials.
The company further stated that trucks belonging to Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are permitted to transport polypropylene products, while vehicles under Dangote Fertiliser Limited are authorised for the movement of urea fertiliser.
Dangote Industries warned that any company truck found carrying unauthorised goods would be regarded as being involved in illegal haulage, adding that drivers and owners of such goods could face arrest, cargo confiscation and prosecution in line with existing laws.
“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorized goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company stated.
To support effective investigation and enforcement, the company urged whistleblowers to provide detailed information, including the type of truck, registration number, cab number, location, description of goods being transported, truck colour and photographs of the vehicle and cargo where available.
Dangote Group has also established dedicated reporting channels across its operations to receive complaints relating to illegal haulage activities involving trucks operating from its Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants.
The company disclosed that relevant security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have been authorised to apprehend drivers who use Dangote trucks for unauthorised commercial activities.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy towards logistics-related fraud, Dangote Industries called on members of the public to support its efforts by reporting illegal operators and helping to promote transparency and accountability within the transportation sector.
The company noted that the initiative is aimed at protecting its assets, strengthening compliance and ensuring that individuals involved in illegal activities are brought to justice.
“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities. We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system,” the statement added.
Dangote Industries reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining lawful business practices, protecting the Dangote brand and ensuring a transparent and efficient logistics network across the country.
