The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has formally decorated 30 senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP) during a ceremony held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The decoration ceremony marked the official recognition of 13 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and 17 Commissioners of Police, whose elevations reflect years of distinguished, dedicated and meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Disu congratulated them on their elevation, describing their promotion as both a reward for exceptional service and a call to greater responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
He acknowledged the sacrifices associated with policing, noting that many officers had missed birthdays, family celebrations and other important personal milestones in the course of serving the nation.
The Inspector-General also paid tribute to the families of the officers, commending them for their unwavering support and sacrifices throughout the officers’ careers.
Charging the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them, IGP Disu urged them to lead with integrity, professionalism and compassion, stressing that leaders who genuinely prioritise the welfare of the officers under their command would, in return, earn their trust, loyalty and commitment.
He further encouraged the newly promoted officers to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through exemplary conduct, sound decision-making and unwavering commitment to justice and accountability.
The IGP also urged them to mentor younger officers and provide the leadership needed to inspire the next generation of police personnel, while reminding them to wear their new ranks with humility as well as pride.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare, professional development and operational effectiveness of its personnel.

Also decorated were the newly promoted Commissioners of Police: CP Nelson Nwamanna; CP Bolanle Aremu Murtala; CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo; CP Ajayi Oluyemi; CP Rita Oyintare Oki; CP Iya Umar Mohammed; CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu; CP Nurudeen A. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Oyekachukwu Ibezim; Deputy National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Zainab Ibrahim; Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, who represented the Governor of Jigawa State; Engr.
