…PTML Will Justify Confidence Reposed in Us – Acting Controller Miko
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially launched its Management Information System (MIS) File Tracker, with the pilot phase commencing at the PTML Area Command as part of its ongoing digital transformation and modernisation drive.
Speaking at the launch, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, described the initiative as another significant step in the Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance administrative efficiency, improve personnel management, and accelerate documentation processes.
Represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of ICT/Modernisation, DCC Oluyomi Adebakin, the CGC said the deployment of the MIS File Tracker aligns with the Service’s broader modernisation agenda aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, promoting transparency, and facilitating seamless trade through innovative digital solutions.
Adebakin reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to transforming its operations through technology-driven initiatives that improve service delivery. She noted that, having championed several landmark digital platforms, including the Nigeria Trade Portal and the Customs Verification Management System (CVMS), the introduction of the MIS File Tracker further underscores the Service’s determination to align with global best practices in customs administration.
According to her, the new platform will reinforce PTML Area Command’s position as a hub for innovation within the Service by simplifying administrative processes and enhancing operational efficiency.
She explained that the MIS is an enterprise-wide administrative platform designed to serve as a Single Sign-On (SSO) application, enabling a unified data system that seamlessly integrates administrative functions across departments.
Adebakin urged officers to maximise the platform’s capabilities by utilising it for critical administrative processes such as leave and pass applications, file tracking, duty roster management, internal staff orders, nominal roll administration, and other personnel-related functions. She added that the system also provides a feedback mechanism for continuous improvements, modifications, and future enhancements.
The deployment of the MIS File Tracker is expected to streamline internal workflows, minimise manual processes, and strengthen data-driven decision-making across the Nigeria Customs Service.
Recognised as one of the Service’s most technologically advanced formations, the PTML Area Command has consistently served as the preferred pilot location for major Customs modernisation initiatives, including the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly known as B’Odogwu.
Expressing confidence in the command’s readiness for the rollout, the Acting Controller, Deputy Comptroller Nura Miko, said PTML is well-positioned to successfully implement the initiative and serve as a model for Customs innovation nationwide.
He stated that the command remains committed to maximising all technology-driven trade facilitation initiatives introduced by the Nigeria Customs Service Management.
While expressing appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs for his confidence in the command’s capacity, Miko disclosed that efforts are ongoing to reduce the cargo clearance time for compliant Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) cargoes from the current two-hour benchmark to just one hour.
He described the MIS File Tracker as another bold milestone in the Service’s journey towards sustaining its position as one of Africa’s leading customs administrations, assuring that the PTML Area Command would justify the confidence reposed in it by ensuring the successful implementation of the system from the pilot stage through to full deployment.
