The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, has advised public servants to make their health a priority by undergoing regular medical examinations to promote early detection and prevention of diseases.
Agoro gave the charge during the August edition of the monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Head of Service stressed that a healthy workforce remains critical to achieving effective and efficient public service delivery, noting that maintaining good health requires collective responsibility and conscious lifestyle choices.
Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, commended public servants for their dedication and consistent participation in the monthly fitness initiative.

She encouraged participants to maintain proper personal hygiene and adopt healthy habits that would enhance their overall well-being and productivity.
Earlier, a Health Educator from the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Adefunke Amodu, sensitised participants on the importance of regular medical check-ups and healthy living practices.
Amodu urged public servants to take charge of their health by knowing their medical status through periodic health screenings, particularly for hepatitis, a viral infection that primarily affects the liver.
She advised participants to avoid risky practices such as unprotected sexual activities, the use of unsterilised medical equipment and exposure to contaminated sharp objects. She also cautioned against excessive alcohol consumption.
The health educator further encouraged workers to embrace healthier dietary choices by consuming properly prepared meals, fruits, vegetables, and adequate water to support their physical well-being.
The monthly Walk for Fitness Exercise is part of the Lagos State Government’s broader initiative to promote healthy lifestyles, improve workers’ wellness, and enhance productivity across the public service.
