JMG Limited has called for greater commitment to environmental conservation, responsible waste management and cleaner energy solutions as organisations and communities across the world mark World Cleanup Day.
The electro-mechanical company said this year’s observance, held on September 20 under the theme, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities,” highlights the need to address food waste, responsible consumption, the circular economy and sustainable waste management in urban areas.
JMG said the focus of the observance aligns with its sustainability efforts, which combine community-based environmental initiatives with the promotion of cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.
The company demonstrated its commitment to community action last year when its management and employees joined residents of Gbagada, Lagos, for a cleanup exercise aimed at removing waste, promoting proper waste separation and encouraging collective responsibility for the environment.
Beyond waste removal, JMG said environmental sustainability also requires businesses to reconsider how energy is generated and consumed.
The company pointed to its solar hybrid power installation at the Agboyi-Ketu Primary Health Care Centre in Lagos as an example of its efforts to provide cleaner and more reliable power for essential services, including emergency care, maternity services, immunisation and diagnostic activities.
Speaking on JMG’s approach to sustainability, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, Rabi Jammal, said its strategy was centred on applying innovation and technology to improve lives while protecting the environment.
“At JMG, our approach to sustainability is deeply human-centred, with a responsibility to apply innovation and technology,” Jammal said.
He added that the company’s sustainability efforts form part of its broader commitment to supporting communities and promoting solutions capable of contributing to environmental protection.
JMG urged businesses, communities and individuals to look beyond visible pollution and examine the habits, systems and practices that contribute to environmental challenges.
The company provides services across mechanical, electrical/electronic, computer and chemical engineering, with solutions covering power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems and air compressors.
Through its solar and hybrid energy solutions, JMG said it remains focused on supporting sustainable development, empowering communities and contributing to Nigeria’s industrial growth.
