Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have uncovered and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly involved in the production and packaging of adulterated alcoholic drinks in the Yafin area of Badagry, Lagos State.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old man identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, who was found at the premises.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the operation followed credible information provided by members of the public regarding suspected criminal activities at the location.
Police operatives subsequently searched the facility and recovered items they said were suspected to have been used in the production and packaging of the alcoholic drinks.
Among the items recovered were suspected adulterated alcoholic beverages, empty bottles, assorted wine labels and various production utensils.
The police said the premises was immediately sealed following the discovery, while the recovered materials were taken to the station for further investigation. The suspect was also taken into custody as investigators continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged operation.
The development was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to tackle suspected criminal activities across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved for their vigilance and prompt response to the information received.
Fatai also reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying and preventing criminal activities.
The police said investigations into the seized materials and the activities allegedly carried out at the facility are ongoing.
The latest operation has also drawn attention to continued enforcement efforts against suspected unregulated production and packaging of alcoholic beverages in parts of Lagos State.
Authorities are expected to establish through investigation whether the seized products were adulterated and determine the extent of any alleged offences before further action is taken.
