The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards during a series of operations conducted across the state.
The operations, which took place between September 16 and 26, 2026, also led to the recovery of several mobile phones and electrical materials, while eight vehicles were impounded for allegedly obstructing traffic around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday, saying the operations were carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
According to the command, detectives attached to the Owode Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17 and arrested two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, in connection with the alleged theft. Another suspect, identified as Saheed, reportedly remains at large.
In a separate operation along Ayetoro Road on September 19, operatives of the Olorunda Division arrested two suspects, Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, over the alleged theft of electrical materials. Police said a third suspect, Tosin, escaped.
The recovered items included bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over electrical box and a circuit breaker box, which the police said were allegedly stolen from a residence in the area.
Also, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics team arrested three suspects in Dalemo, Ota, on September 21, following the interception of an unregistered tricycle and a TVS motorcycle.
The suspects were identified as Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30. Preliminary investigations, according to the police, linked them to alleged vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis.
On September 22, operatives of the Igbesa Division arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud. Police said 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones were recovered from him.
The command said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was allegedly involved in a scheme involving utility bills, newly acquired SIM cards and bank accounts, with the ATM cards allegedly collected for fraudulent transactions.
In another operation the same day, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following information about a suspected cult-related gathering. Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq, 36, while police recovered three firearms.
The command said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearms and identify other persons who may be connected to the case.
Meanwhile, detectives attached to the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office recovered a Safira vehicle reportedly taken from its owner and arrested Olatunji Olalekan following an investigation involving intelligence gathering and tracking.
The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit while investigations continue.
The command also reported that eight vehicles were impounded on September 26 during a “No Parking” operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge. The police said the vehicles were obstructing the highway and were removed to improve traffic flow and road safety.
The affected vehicle owners are expected to face prosecution, according to the command.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism and thanked members of the public for their cooperation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in maintaining safety across the state.
