The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has joined Nigerians and the international community in celebrating teachers on World Teachers’ Day, while calling for improved remuneration and safer working environments for educators across the country.
In a statement issued on October 5, 2026, to mark the annual celebration, CAIDOV described teachers as critical contributors to national development and recognised their role in shaping future generations.
The organisation urged relevant authorities and stakeholders to give greater attention to the welfare and working conditions of Nigerian teachers, stressing the importance of providing an environment where educators can perform their responsibilities effectively.
CAIDOV also called for stronger measures to ensure that schools across Nigeria are safe and conducive to teaching and learning.
The organisation said better remuneration and improved working conditions would help recognise the contribution of teachers and strengthen the education system.
The statement was signed by CAIDOV Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki.
World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5 to recognise the contribution of teachers to education and society and to draw attention to issues affecting the teaching profession.
