Zenith Bank Plc is set to launch its maiden Girl-Child Empowerment Programme, an initiative designed to inspire young girls, build their confidence and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue their educational and career aspirations.
The programme, themed “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” will take place virtually on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., a day after the International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11.
The initiative is the brainchild of the bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, OON, who made history as the first female to occupy the position in Zenith Bank’s history.
The programme is designed to provide young girls with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals across different fields, gain valuable insights into career development and explore pathways to leadership and skills acquisition.
Through mentorship, knowledge-sharing and exposure to diverse career opportunities, the initiative seeks to encourage participants to recognise their potential, broaden their ambitions and make informed decisions about their futures.
Zenith Bank said the programme would serve as an annual platform for promoting girl-child development, with a focus on inspiring confidence and preparing young girls to take advantage of opportunities in education, professional development and leadership.
The initiative also builds on the bank’s existing efforts to support women and girls through various empowerment programmes.
These include its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards organised in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.
The bank also operates the Z-Woman initiative, which supports women-owned and women-led businesses through specialised financing, capacity building and networking opportunities.
Together, these programmes reflect Zenith Bank’s broader approach to supporting women’s economic participation and promoting opportunities for girls and women at different stages of their lives.
The maiden edition of the Girl-Child Empowerment Programme is open to girls, parents, educators and members of the public.
Interested participants can register through the event registration platform, while those unable to attend the virtual session via Zoom can watch the livestream on Zenith Bank’s social media platforms.
