The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has commended the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) for its sustained contributions to policing and security development, describing its newly completed headquarters as a strategic institutional platform capable of strengthening security support at both state and national levels.
Disu made the remarks on Saturday, November 7, 2026, during a tour of the Fund’s new headquarters on Assbifi Road, Alausa Central Business District, Ikeja, Lagos. The visit followed the recent commissioning of the facility, which he was unable to attend physically but was represented at the ceremony.
The police chief praised the LSSTF for its consistent investments in operational equipment, infrastructure, logistics and other essential resources that have enhanced the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
He noted that the Fund’s interventions demonstrated the value of sustainable partnerships involving government, the private sector and security institutions in addressing security challenges.

Against the backdrop of ongoing efforts to establish State Police Services in Nigeria, Disu expressed confidence that the new headquarters would strengthen the Fund’s institutional capacity and position it to provide greater support to the Nigeria Police Force and the proposed state policing system.
The proposed establishment of State Police Services recently recorded significant progress after securing the constitutionally required approval of at least two-thirds of the 36 State Houses of Assembly. The National Assembly confirmed 30 state approvals on November 4, 2026, before transmitting the proposed constitutional amendment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assent.
Disu also expressed appreciation to renowned philanthropist and business mogul, Sir Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu, GCON, who singlehandedly financed the construction of the LSSTF’s new headquarters.
He acknowledged Adebutu’s contribution as a significant demonstration of private-sector commitment to strengthening public institutions and supporting national development.
The IGP equally commended Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the LSSTF Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, for their continued support for the Nigeria Police Force and their contributions to improving security operations.
In his response, Ogunsan thanked the IGP for the visit and commendation, reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies and the proposed State Police Services.
He explained that the LSSTF would continue to pursue strategic interventions aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing public safety.

Ogunsan also stressed the need for sustained cooperation among government institutions, security agencies and private-sector stakeholders to build a responsive and sustainable security framework.
Those present during the visit included Dr. Ajoke Ogunsan, wife of the LSSTF chief executive, and the Fund’s Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis.
The IGP was accompanied by his wife and National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Olufunmilayo Mutiat Disu; Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh; Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani; Area Commander, ACP Sholla Omilade; ACP Aka Shittu (retd.); Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye; CSP Olanrewaju Edwin; Alausa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Toyosi Shokunbi; CSP Oke Akinwunmi; Lagos Police Command spokesperson, SP Adebisi Abimbola; ASP Olufemi Adeoye and other senior police officers.
