The Super Falcons of Nigeria paid a visit to South African footballer Gabriela Salgado, who suffered a horrific injury during the WAFCON semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa. Salgado sustained a fracture of the mid-shaft of her left leg in the 88th minute of the game, which led to her being stretchered off the field. The Nigerian team, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, visited Salgado at the Mohamed VI University Hospital in Casablanca, where she underwent successful surgery.
Salgado’s injury was diagnosed as a mid-shaft fracture of the left leg, requiring immediate medical attention. The surgery was successful, but she’ll be out of action for the rest of the year. The Super Falcons presented Salgado with a signed jersey, showcasing their support and solidarity. SAFA President Cyril Ramaphosa also extended his well-wishes, praising Salgado’s bravery and skill.
