Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK’s Conservative Party, has unveiled a new immigration plan aimed at deporting 150,000 illegal migrants annually. This plan, dubbed the “Radical Borders Plan,” would introduce a new Removals Force, modeled after the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, to overhaul the UK’s border enforcement system.
The plan includes deporting all illegal arrivals within a week, removing legal barriers to mass deportations, and imposing visa sanctions on countries that refuse to repatriate their citizens. Badenoch’s proposal also involves banning asylum claims from illegal entrants, repealing the Human Rights Act, and withdrawing the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights.
The new Removals Force would possess extensive powers, including the use of facial recognition technology to identify individuals subject to removal. According to Badenoch, the plan would “shut down the asylum hotel racket,” save taxpayers billions of pounds, and restore public trust in Britain’s borders.
Badenoch criticized both Conservative and Labour governments for their handling of the migration crisis, accusing Labour of presiding over record levels of illegal crossings and wasting public funds on asylum accommodations. She emphasized that “if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported” and that “only the Conservatives have a serious, credible plan to deliver stronger borders.
The plan has sparked debate across political and human rights circles, with critics warning that repealing the Human Rights Act could expose Britain to diplomatic and legal challenges.
