Senator Iyiola Omisore, the immediate past National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is confident of winning the party’s governorship ticket in Osun State for the 2026 elections.
He declared his intention to contest at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, emphasizing that he enjoys overwhelming support from party members across the state. Omisore believes that over 90% of APC members in Osun State would back his ambition during the primaries. He promised to deliver a government characterized by maturity, inclusiveness, and focus on key development areas such as education, agriculture, infrastructural renewal, and impartial policies.
Omisore’s campaign team is optimistic about his chances, describing him as the most experienced candidate to fly the party’s ticket and win the election. The APC governorship primaries are scheduled to take place between November 24 and December 15, 2025, with the main election set for August 8, 2026.
Other notable aspirants for the APC governorship ticket include Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority; Babajide Omoworare, Former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Business; Dotun Babayemi, Lawyer and son of the late Olufi of Gbongan; Benedict Alabi, Former Deputy Governor of Osun State; Akin Ogunbiyi, Chairman of Mutual Assurance Benefits; and Kunle Adegoke, Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The Osun APC State Working Committee has issued strict directives to maintain discipline and unity ahead of the primaries, warning against verbal attacks and public confrontations among supporters of different aspirants.
