President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe, where he’ll continue his end-of-year break and prepare for an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates. Specifically, he’ll attend the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) from January 11 to 17.
The ADSW 2026 summit is an annual event that brings together global leaders to discuss sustainable development and socioeconomic progress. This year’s theme is “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” focusing on innovation, finance, and people.
Tinubu’s invitation to the summit comes from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The president is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a testament to the power of collaboration, providing a global platform for stakeholders to address global challenges and accelerate growth. The event has been held annually for over 15 years.
Tinubu’s trip to the UAE underscores Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development and global cooperation. His participation in the summit is likely to strengthen ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
The president’s schedule after the summit hasn’t been disclosed, but he’s expected to return to Nigeria and resume his duties.
