The FCT has sealed an orphanage over alleged child trafficking, marking a significant crackdown on illegal activities targeting vulnerable children. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) led the operation, highlighting its commitment to protecting children’s rights.
According to reports, the orphanage was allegedly involved in trafficking children, with investigations revealing disturbing details about the operation. NAPTIP has been working tirelessly to combat human trafficking, and this latest action demonstrates its resolve to tackle the issue head-on .
In a similar case, NAPTIP arrested a 60-year-old orphanage owner and three others for allegedly trafficking over 300 children. The suspects allegedly used a “Back to School Project” to deceive parents into releasing their children, who were then sold for ₦1 million to ₦3 million each.
The agency has rescued 26 children, but 274 are still missing, highlighting the scale of the problem. NAPTIP is urging parents and communities to be vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that human trafficking can happen anywhere.
The FCT’s action sends a strong message to those involved in child trafficking that the government won’t tolerate such activities. NAPTIP is working with other agencies to ensure justice is served and the perpetrators face the full force of the law.
