Governor Oborevwori of Delta State is calling on governors to utilize the increased funds from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to improve the lives of citizens. According to him, states are now receiving more money from FAAC, and it’s time to make people happy.
This call comes as states have surpassed the federal government in FAAC allocations, with a significant increase in revenue sharing. The shift is largely due to the growing contribution of Value Added Tax (VAT) to gross revenues, which benefits states more than statutory revenue.
Oborevwori emphasized that states should stop hiding the truth and instead focus on using the increased funds to drive development and improve the welfare of citizens. He urged governors to take advantage of the current situation to make a positive impact.
The governor’s statement highlights the growing importance of state-level revenue management. With increased funds, states have an opportunity to address pressing issues and drive economic growth.
