The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has announced that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) saw a 7% increase in revenue, reaching N210 billion in October 2025. This growth indicates improved collection efficiency and is a positive sign for the electricity sector .
The increase in revenue can be attributed to enhanced revenue assurance measures, expanded metering efforts, and stronger enforcement of payment discipline. These efforts have likely contributed to the DisCos’ improved performance.
In September 2025, DisCos collected N196.26 billion, representing a 2.69% increase from August’s N191.12 billion. The collection efficiency also rose to 81.25% in September, up from 80.19% in August.
The improved revenue collection is a welcome development for the electricity sector, indicating progress in addressing challenges. With continued efforts, the sector is likely to see further growth.
NERC’s report highlights the DisCos’ growing revenue, reflecting improved electricity supply and payment collection. This trend is expected to continue, supporting the sector’s development.
