Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reaffirmed his support for the Nigerian Law School, pledging to secure a historic Lagos property for the institution. This move is part of his administration’s efforts to enhance the education sector in Lagos State. Sanwo-Olu has been actively working on various initiatives to improve education, including collaborating with TeachForNigeria to establish a sustainable five-year program, aiming to domesticate the initiative under the banner of the “TeachForLagos” project.
The Governor’s commitment to education is evident in his administration’s investments in the sector. He has outlined initiatives to enhance education in Lagos State, including recruiting 275 Fellows through the TeachForNigeria initiative, ensuring quality education for all.
Sanwo-Olu’s support for the Nigerian Law School is not an isolated effort, as his administration has been working on various judicial reforms. He recently commissioned two critical judicial infrastructure projects, including a Deputy Sheriff Warehouse and Magistrates’ Official Quarters, aimed at strengthening the administration of justice and promoting the rule of law in the State.
The Lagos State Government is also working to address rent-related challenges and fast-track tenancy dispute resolution through amendments to the Lagos State Tenancy Law. A bill to this effect has been forwarded to the State House of Assembly for legislative action.
In addition to his education and judicial initiatives, Sanwo-Olu has emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between government and private investors to drive growth in Nigeria’s real estate sector. He has implemented strategic reforms in physical planning and urban development to reduce incidents of building collapse.
The Governor’s efforts have been recognized by various stakeholders, including the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI-Nigeria), which has praised Lagos State’s leadership in real estate reform, infrastructure development, and tech-driven innovation.
Sanwo-Olu’s administration has also made significant strides in justice sector reforms, including the establishment of the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse (LMDC), the first court-connected Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) centre in Nigeria.
Overall, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s reaffirmation of support for the Nigerian Law School is part of his broader efforts to enhance education, promote judicial reforms, and drive growth in Lagos State’s real estate sector.
