The Ondo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping, arresting 10 suspected kidnappers and recovering ransom money in Akure, the state capital. The suspects, aged between 18 and 28, were apprehended by a joint operation of the Anti-Kidnapping Section and visiting Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel.
The arrested individuals include Muritala Muhammed, Mustapha Adamu, Usman Ibrahim, Amisu Aruna, Asiru Abdulasis, Abduliu Sanni, Ibrahim Suraju, Noah Isiaku, Abdulahi Suraju, and Arabi Hamet. The police recovered an operational motorcycle and ransom money, including some burnt currency notes, which are being documented as exhibits.
According to sources, the suspects have made confessional statements detailing their roles within the syndicate. The Ondo State Police Command is working to unravel the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and identify other accomplices.
The police operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other security challenges in Ondo State. The state has witnessed a surge in kidnapping cases in recent months, prompting the police to intensify efforts to tackle the menace.
